GEO & SEO Resources

Every tool we could verify, including our own competitors and their real prices — we list rivals because informed buyers make better customers.

Find out where you stand — free, in ten minutes

One-off checks that cost nothing and need no credit card. These are snapshots, not monitoring — run them before you pay anyone (including us) so you know what problem you're actually solving.

Free

Google Search Console

Google's own view of your site: indexing, crawl errors, queries, clicks, Core Web Vitals, and now AI Overviews/AI Mode appearance data. The ground truth for how Google sees you — no third-party tool substitutes for it.

Free

Baseline's reports use third-party ranking and mention data; GSC is first-party performance data. Run both.

Baseline

Baseline free scan

Enter a URL on our homepage and get a first Surface audit — visibility, brand, and schema signals in one pass. No account needed to start.

Free first scan; ongoing tracking needs an account

Competitor

HubSpot AEO Grader

Enter a brand and it queries ChatGPT, Perplexity and Gemini live, scoring sentiment, presence and share-of-voice out of 100. A one-time snapshot, not ongoing monitoring.

Free, no account required, unlimited runs

A good free complement to Baseline's ongoing mention scans — use it to decide whether you need monitoring at all.

Competitor

Ahrefs AI Visibility Checker

No-signup check of whether your brand gets mentioned across ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity, Copilot and AI Overviews, using real search-derived questions. The free tier shows a limited preview; history and competitor benchmarking sit behind the paid Brand Radar.

Free preview; full tracking from ~$398/mo via Brand Radar

The closest free substitute for Baseline's brand scans. If the preview tells you enough, you don't need us.

Competitor

Semrush AI Search Visibility Checker

Free AI Visibility Score, mention counts and competitive gaps across ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity and AI Overviews. Deeper tracking is behind the paid AI Visibility Toolkit.

Free snapshot; paid toolkit from $99/mo

Free

Google PageSpeed Insights

Core Web Vitals (lab + real-world field data) with prioritized fixes. CWV feeds directly into Google's ranking systems, so this is the free baseline every site should run.

Free

Free

Bing Webmaster Tools

Bing's Search Console equivalent: indexing, backlinks, a basic site audit, and a structured-data checker. Matters more than its market share suggests — Bing's index feeds Copilot answers and Perplexity citations. Auto-imports verified sites from GSC.

Free (account required)

Monitor how AI engines talk about your brand

Ongoing tracking of mentions, citations and sentiment across ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini and the rest. This is Baseline's core product, so read the competitor listings carefully — some are cheaper, some cover more engines, and the free snapshots in the section above may be all a small brand needs. Enterprise platforms (Conductor, BrightEdge, seoClarity, Lumar) also sell this at $2,000+/mo on quote-only contracts; we've left them off the cards because almost nobody reading this page is their buyer.

Baseline

Baseline Visibility

Cross-engine AI visibility tracking with scheduled scans, per-keyword sentiment, and shareable report links. Includes a single-keyword quick test if you just want to check one term.

Included in Baseline plans — sign-in required, see /pricing

Baseline

Baseline Brand Monitoring

Tracks brand mentions and citations across AI engines with sentiment, on reusable brand profiles that re-scan on a schedule.

Included in Baseline plans — sign-in required, see /pricing

Baseline

Baseline AI Traffic

First-party analytics with AI answer-engine attribution — detects ChatGPT, Perplexity and Gemini referrals so you can see whether AI visibility actually sends visitors.

Included in Baseline plans — sign-in required, see /pricing

Competitor

Otterly.AI

Tracks brand mentions and citation sources across ChatGPT, AI Overviews/AI Mode, Gemini and Copilot. The cheapest self-serve entry point in the category, though Claude/Gemini/AI Mode are paid add-ons.

From $29/mo (15 prompts) to $489/mo; engine add-ons $9–29/mo

Lower price floor than Baseline. If you only need 15 prompts on one engine, Otterly's Lite tier is hard to argue with.

Competitor

AthenaHQ

YC-backed GEO platform tracking citations across 8+ models with content-gap analysis and autonomous content agents wired to Shopify/GA4. Credit-based pricing with a genuinely free tier.

Free tier (limited credits) · $295/mo Starter · custom Enterprise

Athena's free tier is a real no-cost monitoring option that Baseline doesn't offer.

Competitor

Rankscale

Unusually wide coverage — 17+ engines including DeepSeek, Grok and Mistral — with sentiment monitoring on a credit-per-query model. The broadest engine coverage per euro on this list.

From €20/mo (Essentials) to €780/mo

Covers more engines than Baseline. Pick Rankscale if long-tail engine coverage matters more to you than audits and schema tooling.

Competitor

Peec AI

AI search analytics — visibility, ranking position and sentiment across ChatGPT, Perplexity and Gemini — built for agencies and teams managing multiple brands and countries, with Looker Studio export on higher tiers.

$95/mo Starter · $245/mo Pro · $495/mo Advanced · custom Enterprise

Competitor

Profound

Well-known AEO platform with visibility tracking, content-optimization agents and AI-referral attribution. Note the Starter tier only covers ChatGPT — multi-engine tracking starts at $399/mo.

From $99/mo (ChatGPT-only) · $399/mo for 3 engines · custom Enterprise

Competitor

Semrush AI Visibility Toolkit

AI-visibility reports, daily prompt tracking and an AI-readiness audit bolted onto Semrush's SEO suite. Best value only if you're already paying for Semrush — it's a per-domain add-on, not included in core plans.

$99/mo per domain (annual) as an add-on; Semrush One bundle from $199/mo

Competitor

Ahrefs Brand Radar

Share-of-voice tracking across 7 AI platforms plus emerging YouTube/Reddit/TikTok citation tracking, inside Ahrefs. Full coverage requires a base Ahrefs plan plus the add-on — the most expensive path to 7-engine coverage here.

Base plan from $129/mo + add-on $199/mo (one platform) or $699/mo (all); realistically $828+/mo combined

Worth it if you already live in Ahrefs and want everything in one place; expensive as a standalone GEO buy.

Get your structured data right

Generate schema.org markup, validate it, and keep it from silently rotting. Rule of thumb: generate with whatever fits your stack, then always validate with Google's own free tools — no generator, ours included, is a substitute for that check. Skip Google's retired Structured Data Markup Helper and legacy WordPress snippet plugins; they linger in old guides but aren't current recommendations.

Baseline

Baseline Schema Generator

Paste a URL, get schema.org JSON-LD generated for the page. No login required.

Free, no account needed

Free

Google Rich Results Test

Google's official validator — renders your URL through Google's actual rendering service and checks eligibility for rich results (FAQs, products, reviews, ~30 supported types). The definitive 'will Google actually accept this' check.

Free

The natural companion to any schema generator, including ours: we generate, this verifies how Google's own renderer sees it.

Free

Schema Markup Validator

The official schema.org-community validator. Checks JSON-LD/RDFa/Microdata syntax against the full 800+ type vocabulary — broader than Google's rich-result subset, but with no opinion on rich-result eligibility.

Free

Competitor

Schema Markup Generator (TechnicalSEO.com)

Free form-based JSON-LD generator for common types — pick a type, fill fields, copy the code. No login, no ongoing management; one-off generation only.

Free

Does the same one-off job as our schema generator. Ours reads the page for you; this one you fill in by hand. Both are free — use whichever you prefer.

Baseline

Baseline Rolling Schema

Automated recurring schema refresh for a whole domain — markup stays current as pages change instead of being a one-time paste.

Free to view; subscription required to run — see /pricing

Baseline

Baseline Schema Audit

Site-wide JSON-LD entity coverage and structured-data quality checks, with historical snapshots and deltas.

Included in Baseline plans — sign-in required

Competitor

Rank Math

WordPress SEO plugin with a visual schema builder — 20+ types free, 800+ types plus templates and conditional display in Pro. If your site runs WordPress, schema inside your SEO plugin is usually the right call.

Free / Pro from ~$71/yr

Competitor

Yoast SEO

Auto-generates a connected schema graph for WordPress sites; 2026 added opt-in site-wide 'Schema Aggregation' for AI agents.

Free / Premium ~€119/yr

Competitor

Schema App

Enterprise structured-data platform: builds and maintains a site-wide schema knowledge graph with monitoring and an MCP integration, sold with strategy and setup as a service.

Enterprise, custom quote + setup fee

The managed, enterprise-scale version of what Rolling Schema does self-serve. Thousands of pages and a services budget → Schema App; otherwise you probably don't need it.

Make your site readable to AI crawlers

Which bots visit, what they can read, and whether files like llms.txt help. Honest caveat up front: Google has publicly said llms.txt has no confirmed ranking effect in Google's AI features — we build an llms.txt generator and we'll still tell you that. Other assistants and agents do fetch it, so treat it as cheap machine-readability, not a ranking tactic.

Free

llmstxt.org — the /llms.txt spec

The canonical specification itself, proposed by Jeremy Howard in 2024: a markdown file at /llms.txt giving LLMs a compact entry point to your site. Check any generator's output against this page, not a third party's interpretation.

Free (open spec)

Free

Chrome Lighthouse — Agentic Browsing audit

Since Lighthouse 13.3 (May 2026), a default audit category checking llms.txt presence, WebMCP support, accessibility-tree quality and layout shift. Diagnostic pass/fail signals, not a score.

Free (built into Chrome DevTools)

Baseline

Baseline LLMS.txt Generator

Generates an llms.txt index file for your site against the llmstxt.org spec.

Free with a Baseline account — sign-in required

Requires login; if you want zero-signup generation, llms-txt.io below does the same core job.

Freemium

llms-txt.io

Hosted generator and validator for llms.txt / llms-full.txt files. Free web tools produce and check the file; paid tiers add API access and auto-maintained files.

Free generator/validator; paid tiers for API and managed sync

Free

OpenAI Crawlers documentation

Official reference for OpenAI's bots (GPTBot, OAI-SearchBot, ChatGPT-User and co.) — published IP ranges and how robots.txt maps to training vs search-index vs live-fetch behavior independently.

Free

Free

Perplexity Crawlers documentation

Official docs for PerplexityBot and Perplexity-User with IP ranges and user agents. Worth knowing: Cloudflare has reported Perplexity also using undeclared crawlers that ignore no-crawl directives — these docs only cover the declared ones.

Free

Free

Cloudflare Radar — Bots Directory

Public directory of 500+ verified crawlers (GPTBot, ClaudeBot, PerplexityBot, …) plus aggregate AI-crawler traffic trends from Cloudflare's network. Use it to confirm what a bot's user-agent actually is before writing robots.txt rules.

Free

Freemium

Known Agents (formerly Dark Visitors)

Tracks which AI bots hit your site and auto-maintains a robots.txt that allows or blocks categories of AI crawlers as new bots appear — so you're not hand-updating a growing user-agent list.

Free tier with traffic cap; paid tiers for volume, multiple sites, API

Baseline

Baseline AI Vision Audit

AI-readiness audit covering bot access, structured data and entity authority, with scheduled re-runs and history.

Included in Baseline plans — sign-in required

Baseline

Baseline Site Pulse

Per-page reachability, metadata, content and rendering health checks — catches the 'this page renders blank to a non-JS crawler' class of problem, tracked over time.

Included in Baseline plans — sign-in required

Crawl and audit your site

Full technical crawls, log-file analysis and performance debugging. Baseline doesn't do full-site crawling or page-speed testing — these are the tools we'd use ourselves, and several are free.

Freemium

Screaming Frog SEO Spider

The standard desktop crawler — broken links, meta issues, duplicates, redirect chains. Free up to 500 URLs per crawl; the license removes the cap and unlocks JS rendering and custom extraction.

Free ≤500 URLs; ~£199/yr for unlimited

Freemium

Screaming Frog Log File Analyser

Ingests raw server logs to show how bots actually crawled your site — verified hits, crawl frequency, orphan pages that only appear in logs. Real evidence rather than simulated crawl data.

Free up to 1,000 log events; ~£99/yr unlimited

Paid

Sitebulb

Crawler that fetches every URL twice — raw HTML and rendered DOM — and diffs them, which directly shows what a non-JS AI crawler would miss. 300+ prioritized, explained audit hints rather than raw data dumps.

Desktop from ~$13.50/mo; Cloud from ~£95/mo

Free

LibreCrawl

Free, MIT-licensed crawler with full Playwright JS rendering, schema and hreflang checks, unlimited exports, and 1M+ URL capacity. The no-cost, self-hosted Screaming Frog alternative.

Free (open source, self-hosted)

Paid

JetOctopus

SaaS crawler plus log analyzer for large sites; its log classifier identifies 40+ crawler types, including bots impersonating Googlebot or AI agents draining your server. Useful AI-bot-verification angle at enterprise scale.

From ~€383/mo (annual); 7-day free trial

Free

WebPageTest

Free, open-source, real-browser performance testing with deep waterfall diagnostics, multi-step flows and visual comparisons — more low-level detail than PageSpeed Insights when you need to debug rather than score.

Track keywords, rankings and backlinks

The classic SEO stack still matters — AI engines lean heavily on the same pages that rank in traditional search. Baseline covers keyword rankings and backlinks as part of the platform; the dedicated suites below go deeper on link data and keyword research than we do.

Baseline

Google keyword ranking, difficulty and CPC lookup for your domain.

Baseline

Baseline Backlinks

Inbound link graph with anchor text and domain authority signals, alongside your visibility data in one place.

For deep competitive link research, Ahrefs' index below is bigger than ours. Ours wins on being in the same tool as your AI-visibility data.

Competitor

Ahrefs

The industry's most-cited backlink index plus site audit, rank tracking and keyword research. Gets expensive fast once you add the AI Brand Radar module, but the link data is the reference standard.

Starter $29/mo (limited) · full plans ~€119–419/mo · free tier with heavy limits

Competitor

Semrush

All-in-one SEO/PPC/content suite — site audit, position tracking, backlinks, competitor research. One subscription covering the widest surface area, at a matching price.

From ~$117/mo (SEO) to ~$456/mo; AI toolkit extra

Competitor

Moz Pro

The longest-running suite (inventor of Domain Authority): keyword research, rank tracking, site crawl, link analysis. Cheaper and simpler than Ahrefs/Semrush; its AI-visibility features are still in beta and trail the leaders.

From ~$39–49/mo entry to ~$299/mo

Competitor

SE Ranking

Near-Semrush feature depth at roughly half the price — rank tracking, audit, keywords, backlink monitoring, with an AI Search add-on for ChatGPT/Perplexity/AI Overviews visibility.

Competitor

From ~$29/mo (annual entry ~$19.90/mo)

Competitor

Ahrefs Free Backlink Checker

Learn from primary sources

GEO is full of vendor content selling the cure after describing the disease (this page is on a vendor site too — that's why everything here is a primary source or independent). When a tactic sounds too clever, check it against what the engines themselves publish.

Google's own SEO documentation — crawling, indexing, ranking-systems overviews, structured-data reference. The first stop for 'is this real or SEO myth' questions.

Google's Guide to Optimizing for Generative AI Features

Google's direct answer to GEO hype: AI Overview visibility rides on the same core quality systems as regular search, and it explicitly says llms.txt and 'AI-chunked content' are unnecessary for Google. Read it before buying any GEO tactic — ours included.

Free

Free

GEO: Generative Engine Optimization (Princeton/IIT Delhi)

The academic paper that coined 'GEO' — found citations, quotes and statistics can lift a source's visibility in generative answers by ~40%. Most vendor 'GEO benchmark' posts trace back to this; read the original.

Bing Webmaster Guidelines

Microsoft's crawling and quality guidelines, now explicitly covering 'grounding eligibility' for Copilot. Underrated: Bing's index feeds Perplexity citations, so Bing hygiene has GEO payoff beyond Bing's own market share.
